The building is a listed monument in the old centre, and the company stages premieres and shows every month.
About the place
The building was finished in 1911 on the site of an old restaurant with a stage. It was designed by Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab, who worked in the style of Ödön Lechner and also built the Palace of Culture in Târgu Mureș. The front has floral ornament, a semicircular loggia and two towers with pointed roofs.
The Art Theatre stages its own productions, premieres and children's shows, some also at Deva Citadel with free entry. Tickets cost 25 lei for its own productions and 35 lei for premieres, with reductions for pupils, students and pensioners, and 10 lei for children's shows.
